Harmonic Cartography

An Atlas of Possible Music

Guided journeys ↓Start with the instrument, or follow one of the prepared journeys below.

Bring a chord, collection, or phrase. Find another pitch world it could inhabit. Understand why. Cross into it. Then put your hands on the new world.

What do these tools do?

Explore atlas arranges worlds by harmonic structure. Find affinities arranges them by their relationship to your current settings. Transform phrase opens the transformation workbench. Play keyboard opens the on-screen instrument. Show theory reveals analytical labels and details. These are optional ways to explore.

MAP STUDIES · EIGHT ROUTES INTO THE ATLAS

1. Hear a path. 2. Load it into the instrument.

Each study loads original analytical material or a bounded source-derived abstraction. No study reproduces a copyrighted score or performance.

Previewing · Joy

Load to update the music, map and voicing.

01 · JOY / SHAKTIModal Field → Symmetry

The Synodic meter-fracture abstraction enters Cartography: the same 17/16 → 4/4 → 4/4 → 17/16 → 9/8 → 4/4 timing path steers an original B°7 analytic sonification while the map exposes the harmonic route.

SOURCE METER + DIRECTIONAL CONTOUR ≠ SCORE REPRODUCTION · ANALYTIC SONIFICATION ≠ TRANSCRIPTION
SOURCE VIEW The seed that enters the Atlas

The source view identifies the analytical material being loaded without pretending that the study reproduces a score or performance.

Previewing Joy. Choose Load this study to activate its music and map.
METHOD

Same worlds. Different map.

The field is a two-dimensional projection of the selected musical relationship. Affinity is contextual, not a quality score. Semantic terms are transparent structural search coordinates; they are not presented as universal emotional facts.
