Perception Laboratory

OBSERVE reconstructs the chain from available signal to report: what was present, selected, perceived, remembered, measured, and inferred. CALIBRATE models the observer through sensitivity, criterion, confidence, context, and repeatability. SYNTHESIS asks which claims survive both descriptions.

Research lineage — Jeanette Andrews / illusion as perceptual inquiry

Perception is active, selective, and consequential.

Jeanette Andrews’s public artist statement and recent work at Brown and MIT use illusion as a research method for studying selective attention, perceptual completion, participation, framing, and belief. This house turns that lineage into an operating discipline: locate where a claim was transformed—by signal, attention, completion, memory, report, or context—before deciding what the claim can support.

ATTENTIONWhich signals entered the field but never won selection?
COMPLETIONWhich structure was present, and which structure did perception complete?
FRAMINGWhich response moved when only the brief, context, or social cue moved?
BELIEFWhich cue changed confidence—and did it change accuracy?

Interpretive teaching synthesis from Andrews’s published work; no collaboration or endorsement is implied.
